Bann crews feature prominently and make a considerable impact
The Bann Senior 4X of David Whoriskey, Peter Chambers, Mark McCullough and Aaron Whoriskey at stroke had a fabulous row in the calm conditions and finished in first place taking the title as Head of the River in a winning time of 16.43.7.
The Junior 16 Eight showed their improving ability finishing in 5 th place in a very respectable time of 17.40.8 some 17 seconds faster and well ahead of the Methodist College Junior 18 crew who finished in 7 th place.
The Veteran Eight had a good row and improved their time by 30 seconds from the previous race at the Festive Head in December. They had a very exciting and hard fought tussle for almost 10 minutes in the middle of the course with the Lady Victoria Boat Club Veteran Eight. From the Kings Bridge to the finish the Bann crew were being closely pursued by a fast QUBLBC/BRC 4X. The Bann men rallied, held off this challenge and finished in fine style in a time of 18.49.4
The next race in Belfast is The Lagan Head of the River on Saturday 23 February 2008 and all the Bann crews are looking forward to this major event.
